Pesky mice, How to solve? Cant gain it!!?

Theres a mouse that has cheated passing about 3 times and since I hold tried a few different brands and types of traps and he always seem to steel the bait , have also used poison bait and he dosent give the impression of being to eat any. He have been caught contained by a trap once and escaped as there be evidence of fur and blood on the trap. What to do?

Answers:    Put a light within the area where on earth you expect the mouse to be. They are nocturnal animals and try to avoid light. Also try to locate the entry nouns and put heavy mesh over it. I used an expanded metal mesh that be used to cover the gutters of the neighbors house. I found a small hole about 3/4 " yawning and 4" across that I put the mesh across and then put insulation on the house side of it. No problems so far this year but I’ve have them for a couple of years past. Hope this help.

Maybe he is a cook in training?

If the mouse(mice)keep stealing the bait from your snap trap, let me suggest the following. If you have a cat, dog or bird and you think the mouse is eating their food or crumbs of it, use a piece of the cat/dog food, sunflower or other large bird seed etc as bait. Otherwise, try a raisin, piece of dry cereal, peanut or other nut. The trick is to GLUE IT TO THE TRIGGER OF THE TRAP.

I use white glue (Elmer’s brand, but I suppose others will work. Take the piece of bait and put a drop of glue on it. Leave the bait glue side up until it dries. Now you have a pretty flat piece of glue attached to your bait. This patch of dry glue is what you will use to attach the bait to the trigger. Put a small drop of glue on the trigger, wait about 5 minutes, and then put the piece of bait on the trigger glue side down. Now the dry glue on the bait is in contact with the fresh glue on the trap. Let it dry a few hours and then set the trap as you normally would.

I get very good results with this technique on both rats and mice. It takes time to get the first piece of bait attached, but once you get it glued on, you can reuse it to catch as many as 10 or more rodents. That’s because they never actually get to eat the bait. When they try to pull it off, they trip the trigger and ‘Bang’, that’s it.

If you want a simpler system, buy some small ‘Velcro’ buttons and use the ‘male’ ones to bait traps with peanut butter, grease, jelly etc. The hooks hold the bait and the sticky back holds the velcro/bait on the treadle.
